,
I have some great news for everyone today. As you can see by the title of this article, OpenShot is now officially included in the Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) repository. If you have an alpha version of Lucid, you can already find it in the Software Center. Just search for "openshot".
A big thanks to Benjamin Drung, who helped me improve the packaging and guided me on what to do each step of the way. Also, thanks to the hundreds of supporters who voted on the Ubuntu bug report for OpenShot packaging. We were the #2 bug on Ubuntu's Launchpad page (based on the number of users affected).
Even though we are now included in the Ubuntu repository, we still need to get included in Debian. We are searching for a Debian sponsor, who can help us upload the "openshot" package into Debian. If you are a Debian developer, please consider helping out our project and sponsoring us. =)
Details on the "openshot" package can be found on mentors.debian.net.

That's great! I'll definitely be using it when Lucid is released. :-)

Awesome! :) Now you just need to put "Openshot" with the capital letter, and maybe set the license to GPL (or what it is) so it's more clear on that screen the user sees when looking for a video editor. ;) Mmmm... I think I need to go and check if the Italian translation has some strings to review or finish. :)

The best thing about this is that I just checked the Lucid repositories and the version included is already 1.1, no less. I just hope they properly update to the stable version afterwards, even if it is released after the final freezes.

Where's the list of bugs that have the most "this affects me too" attached? I'd be interested in seeing.
Congrats on being packaged!

The following formats/codecs are missing from your system:
libx264
You will not be able to use the selected export profile. You will need to install the missing formats/codecs or choose a different export profile.
