,
We are quickly approaching version 1.1, and need to finalize our translations as soon as possible. If you would like to help translate OpenShot, now is your chance! All you need is a web browser and a LaunchPad account:
Translate OpenShot Now
Update: We have many languages that are almost done! Just a few more translations left, for anyone who speaks these languages. =)

The Dutch translation is done, including the help manual! :)
However, I noticed some little bugs (OpenShot 1.1.0.alpha2)
-History in the new history-tab is not translated (only the first entry)
- When adding effects in the clip-properties window, the list where you can choose the effects from is not translated.
- Some translations don´t fit in the clip-properties window (in the video tab and also some options in effects tab)
- Effects are not shown in alphabetical order. E.g. ´Black and white´ is translated as ´Zwart en wit´ in Dutch and thus is shown first.
Anyhow, version 1.1 is gonna to be great, keep up the fantastic work!

In Italian difficult things are left, such as "lredscale"... What does that mean?
February 20, 2010 4:37 PM
lredscale is the name of an effect parameter, but it should have a friendly name instead. I have fixed this, and it should show up in the translation system soon.
Thanks,

Hi Jonathan,
I was trying to translate OpenShot into Danish and came upon text number 231:
Copy text
"The is the command name for the melt program, which is the MLT command line."
This makes very little sense to me - is it phrased correctly?
February 23, 2010 10:56 AM
@Morten,
The MLT framework is the video editing library OpenShot uses. MLT includes a command line program called "melt" on Ubuntu and Debian (but on other distros it is not always called "melt"). So, for some people, the command "melt" will not work, and they will need to change the name so it finds the correct command. So, I did my best to phrase it, but I'm sure there are clearer ways to describe it. =)
Thanks,
-Jonathan

Awesome! Really looking forward to 1.1! Any idea when it might be out? Would love to help with translation - but I've not got the skills!

Quick question on translations - is it acceptable to use Google translate, in cases where I expect a reasonable translation? I only speak English, but would like to help flesh out translations. The logic here is that a translation with possible grammatical issues is better than no translation at all. Comments?

@Dan,
I think this would be frowned upon in the LaunchPad translation system. =) I would leave the translations up to the people who speak the native language.
Thanks!
