For anyone wondering what is next for OpenShot Video Editor, here is a post just for you! After the successful launch of version 1.0, we did not waist any time coming up with a plan for our next version.
Version 1.1 is focused primarily on stability and speed. So far we have improved our speed for previewing edits on the timeline over 1300%!
Here are a few things to look forward to in version 1.1:
- Speed Improvements
- Undo / Redo (with History panel):

- Improved Export Screen (now aware of installed codecs)
- Multiple copies of effects can be added to clips:

- Dynamic tiling of overlapping clips (Brady Bunch style):

- Improved Title System
- Improved Timeline Seeking (more accurate)
Our goal is to be the easiest to use video editor on Linux, without sacrificing flexibility and power. While this can be a difficult line to walk, I really think we are on our way to achieving that goal. I hope everyone is as excited as we are about version 1.1, so stay tuned!

OpenShot looks great, and I like the interface. But it messes up the sound when conjoining clips on my standard installation of Ubuntu 9.10 (64 bits). I hope it works right for me on 10.04.

Hi,
First of all, congratulations for your work !! that's a very nice initiative.
what I wanted to say is that I am following your project almost since the beginning, reading everyday if there are some news on the site, and waiting for this great news : "do / undo" is now available !!!!!!! this point was the only thing that made me reluctant to definitely leave all others project for openshot (even if I will still use cinelerra for some very nice feature, but only for specific occasions). Now, just to have the pleasure to fully test openshot, i will upgrade my ubuntu to the last version and will fully test all great possibilities of openshot.
Once again, thanks for everything !!!

How do you download the latest code? I'm ok with testing unstable software, so don't mind testing it out
February 7, 2010 12:39 PM
The easiest way to download the newest source code is to:
1) First install from the PPA (of DEB files)
2) Install the bzr package (sudo apt-get install bzr)
3) Download our latest source (bzr branch lp:openshot)
4) Launch the new version of OpenShot (python ~/openshot/bin/openshot.py)
If you have trouble figuring it out, please click on the "Support" link, and post a question. Thanks!

Just installed version 1.05 and it is just getting better and better. The speed improvements when dragging the playhead is very impressive, even on my relatively slow computer it is very smooth now :)
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Loving everything. 1.0 has been amazingly stable for me. :-)
No more saving my progress everytime I change something! :-D
Definately looking forward to the next set of upgrades, especially Undo/Redo.
