I did consider using QT, but in the end I decided on GTK... mostly due to the fact I use gnome and not KDE. However, I'm sure QT has it's strengths, and I know a lot of developers prefer QT over GTK, but I'm a bit committed to GTK now.<BR/><BR/>As far as Ardour, it is a very impressive UI (which uses GTK I think).<BR/><BR/>I will be showing some screenshots soon that will better show my direction... with regards to the User Interface. I wasn't a great fan of QT until version 4 came out. The QT Designer is pretty impressive and there is also what seems to be a pretty good python binding. <BR/><BR/>And to contradict myself, I assume you already saw Ardour (http://www.ardour.org/).
