I've tried various editors in linux and this one is what I was looking for. I wanted one that could handle "offline" footage, which is low resolution, so I can edit on my laptop with minimal hard drive space. That is one of my favorite features of Final Cut Pro.
Does the Ubuntu install work on a powerpc?
(I'm using OpenShot on ubuntu 9.1 on my 3 year old son's dual processor Pentium3-600 MHz, yeah!.)
Keep up the good work. I used Linux Broadcast about 10 years ago and liked its promise. From what I understand, that eventually converged to cinelerra, which doesn't do offline video editing, only dv. Kino only does dv too.

OpenShot is really a "Kick Ass Video Editor". I've use LiVES before now I'm an OpenShot fan.

Very good work!

I just installed it yesterday night, but from what i saw, it's:
- Easy to use
- Friendly GUI
- Lots of effects to test

Quick feature idea for a future release: Demultiplex function to be able to use multiplex cctv... ( I know, it's very specific ;-D )

As far as python language is concerned, i think it's a great choice cuz it results is faster development. And if "Blender 3D" can make it in python, so can you people...
I would suggest that you make OpenShot plug-in based just like firefox. Have a good stable openShot base program with necessary functions built-in and have plug-ins add extra features to it.

I have entered the Linux world with Ubuntu and from that entrance I have been looking for a video editor that recognizes format AVCHD, so I am crazy to prove it. What it interests to me is that he is fast, since the present video editor that use with xp is very slow and hangs itself. I will be thankful for the change. I will be kind to the new news. the gui is ok
also the export
adn the import too
i like the transitions
a chroma key is needed
wehn will be possible to edit the audio?
with an audio track, some simple effect...so that i can put the music or the words where i need ti will be perfect for a lot fo things (slide shows, short movies...)

Enhora buena por su trabajo en Openshot. Esperemos que pronto sea un editor con esas características que usted pretende: simplicidad, potencia y estabilidad (hace realmente falta). Yo voy a estar al tanto de los desarrollos.

Mi apoyo a su actitud desinteresada y altruista (lamentablemente hay pocos, aunque los hay, como usted). Recomendaré su programa en mi colegio.
