Rick from the Saya Video Editor here. Thanks for mentioning my project!<BR/><BR/>Saya's official name is "Saya-VE", which is a recursive acronym for "Saya-VE ain't yet another Video Editor". Also, saya is the japanese term for scabbard, which gives an agressive (and cool) impression. Given my fascination for japanese swords, I decided to use a katana for the official logo and have the motto "Unsheathe your creativity", as you can see in the project's webpage. I also picked mythological videogame swords as the codenames. I hope that clarifies it.<BR/><BR/>[ Unoficially (and that means off the record ;-) ), I wanted my editor to be marked as a successor for the now-defunct (or at least in cryo) editor "Diva" - which was acknowledged as the most polished Linux video editor yet -, so "Saya" was the first choice that came to my mind. If you want to know why, you can ask anime fans what the names "Saya" and "Diva" have in common ;-) ] <BR/><BR/>I also knew that the name had to be representative. It needed to be short, female, sound cool, and of course, be able to be adapted into a recursive acronym.
