"I have a simple mission: To create an open-source, non-linear video editor for Linux. Many have tried and fallen before me, but for some reason I feel compelled to try myself. I am documenting my journey in this blog for all to read. It will be a dangerous journey, and I might not make it back alive. Hold on tight, and enjoy the ride! By the way, I'm calling this project OpenShot Video Editor!"

Thank you to everyone who has helped translate OpenShot! I'm blown away by how many translations are already completed. We now have 15 different languages being worked on.

After listening to the feedback from the translators, I have just updated the template in LaunchPad to include some strings that were missing from the first template, and also removed some of the strings that are no longer needed (such as the GPL, stock icon names, some dropdown lists, some numbers, etc...). Only the new strings need to be translated.

I don't think there will be any major changes to the template after this, other than a few minor wording changes. So, we are not quite done translating OpenShot. Please take a look at the new strings and help us translate them! Now is your chance to participate (if you haven't already). Thanks in advance!

    Thank you!

I quickly reviewed the updated strings and a this is great improvement and will make the translations easier to maintain.

Falling back to my überzealous nitpicking mode there are still the odd HTML tag (...) and GUI-specific indicator at the end of strings (":") that ideally belong in the layout/styling framework and not in each translation-file. by sticking to such rigid standard it also makes it more likely that launchpad serves up good suggestions from other already translated projects, making the translators task easier and cross project translation congruence.

    :-)

Blogger ate my HTML tag :-o
    What I was referring to was a couple of BOLD < B > and ITALIC < I > tags.

I almost filled missing Italian strings... Now I'll wait for someone to review some of them.

@atmos, thanks for the feedback. I don't mind the nitpicking. It is helping make OpenShot better. =)

I would love to remove all of the html tags and end of string ":" marks, but I don't see an easy way to do that since I'm using glade XML files for the UI. If anyone knows an easy way to do this please let me know. Otherwise, I would have to move some of this text out of the glade file, and into my code... thus defeating some of the benefits of using glade.

I just went around the spanish translations and left spanish with 5 untranslated strings. Most of the work was done, but it feels nice to collaborate.

Now, I just cant wait for this thing to get packaged or to provide a ppa for it.

    Great work!

Hello, I reviewed the French translations, which are actually already correct. Just some hesitations such as using Frenglish or 100%French words. I personally encourage Frenglish for computer relate topics such OpenShot.

Afterwhat, how to install French on OpenShot ?

    [that's, indeed, an important point]
